Our music curriculum, taught through the Charanga Musical School scheme, provides an engaging and progressive approach to developing children’s musical skills, creativity and confidence. Pupils experience a wide variety of musical styles and take part in singing, listening, performing and composing activities that build year on year. Lessons are practical, enjoyable and inclusive, with opportunities to use both tuned and untuned instruments and to perform regularly in class and in wider school events. Through Charanga’s structured, high-quality resources, pupils develop a secure understanding of key musical concepts such as pulse, rhythm, pitch and dynamics. By the time they leave our school, children are confident musicians who enjoy music, can talk about it using accurate vocabulary, and are well prepared for the next stage of their musical education.
