At Essendon, Design and Technology is taught through the engaging and practical Kapow curriculum. Our aim is to help pupils become creative thinkers, confident problem‑solvers and skilled makers. Children learn to design, make and evaluate products with real purpose, using a wide range of tools, materials and techniques.
Through carefully sequenced projects—including mechanisms, structures, textiles, electrical systems and food technology—pupils develop technical knowledge and hands‑on skills. They learn to plan, test ideas, adapt their work and reflect on their outcomes.
Our curriculum ensures pupils leave primary school with independence, resilience and an understanding of how design and technology shapes the world around them.
