History

At Essendon, History is taught through the engaging and knowledge‑rich Kapow curriculum. We aim to inspire pupils’ curiosity about the past and help them understand how people and events have shaped the world today. Through a sequenced programme of learning, children develop chronological understanding, build historical knowledge and learn to ask thoughtful questions.

Pupils explore a wide range of sources, investigate significant periods and individuals, and use historical vocabulary with growing confidence. Our curriculum encourages critical thinking, enquiry and a love of History, preparing children with the skills and understanding they need for future learning.
