At Essendon, Art and Design is taught through a creative and engaging curriculum based on the Kapow scheme. We aim to inspire imagination, develop artistic skills and build confidence in self‑expression.
Pupils explore a wide range of techniques—such as drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles and digital art—while learning about artists and designers from different times and cultures. Lessons are practical, hands‑on and carefully sequenced to ensure progression.
Our curriculum encourages children to experiment, reflect and communicate their ideas visually. As a result, pupils develop growing artistic confidence, refined technical skills and a deeper appreciation of the role of art in the world around them.
